The air pressure is changed by the addition or removal postpartum of that amount of air. This actually determines the remaining amount of AIR surrounding the person, and then some equations calculate the person's volume and postpartum then density. The original volume of the chamber is known, so the Ideal Gas Law gives the desired result! If 1% (of the entire chamber volume) more air was added postpartum to the chamber, and the measured pressure rose by 2%, it would indicate that the remaining air in the chamber is now half of the entire chamber volume, and so the person was taking up half the volume of the chamber. This is because the 2% rise in pressure would have only been a 1% rise without the person in there. In any case, it is an interesting idea. However, there are some problems. The equipment is extremely expensive, on the order of $30,000.
