The truth about our chubby children Dr John Reilly THE report yesterday by the Social Issues Research Centre (SIRC) claimed that concern over childhood obesity was unjustified - and went on to suggest that there was no basis for public health measures aimed at tackling the problem. The SIRC report made three main points: obesity had not become much more common between 1995 and 2003 in England; the health of children had not deteriorated and that obesity was a problem of adulthood.
