12 obese women and 10 obese men were included in a adverse drug reactions 1000 kcal/day dietary intervention trial for 10 weeks. Body composition was measured by body impedance analysis and leptin by radioimmunoassay every 2 adverse drug reactions weeks. Body fat was reduced in females from 39.0 +/- 1.5 kg to 32.9 +/- 1.5 kg (p <0.001) and in males from 30.4 1.4 kg to 26.3 +/- 1.3 kg (p < 0.005).
