A high lactation feed intake is needed to maintain high milk production and a minimum loss of body fat. Consequently, with shorter lactation lengths, the diet needs to be fortified to a higher nutrient content to ensure that milk production demands are met and that the weaning to rebreeding interval is not prolonged.
