Health at Every Size Last week, the city of San Francisco held a rules committee meeting journal regarding the establishment of a childhood obesity task force. The idea is that kids are getting too fat, so something must be done about it - and journal this includes, of course, weight loss instead of teaching kids what it really means to have healthy relationships with their bodies. The response from the size acceptance community was great. Tish from Fatshadow gave a fantastic speech in support of health at every size, and there were a number of supporters there. You can watch the meeting in RealPlayer format; the childhood obesity topic is roughly 40 minutes into the presentation. The zap2it description notes: Lisa takes Maya on a camping trip; Rico wrestles with the challenges of a double-wide corpse. Rico, for those not watching the show, is the embalmer at Fisher & Diaz Funeral plumpers magazine Home, where the show is centered. Rico has already blurted out a sizist comment this season, and is generally... shall we say... not very socially accepting. It'll be interesting to see how this show handles the issue.
