| I've listened to diabetics rationalize their adherence to Atkins. I've heard tales of fat people feeling hurt fat black girls because someone was drinking a diet soda at a fat black girls fat positive event. It gets quite muddled. And any mention of the possible impact of weight on health causes hackles to rise. Indeed, and BFB isn't an exception. Tish continues: Compulsive over eating is an issue for fat black girls the fat community. Not because all fat people eat compulsively but because some of us do and because it's part of the cultural view of us... It's about power. We need to be the ones having the conversation and making the analysis because we are holding the idea that the person's weight is not a pathology. We are the safe place for them.
