Even though I weigh almost 100 lbs, and have a double digit body fat percentage, I can do over 60 minutes of cardio a day, no problem. Although they did put the study subjects on a diet -- a very low-fat, high-fiber diet. That's an awfully hard eating plan to stick to in the long run...kinda like the Ornish diet. While it apparently works wonders for cardiac patients, it's very difficult to follow in today's environment and also can cause chronic constipation, dry hair, and dry nails. I would like to see research similar to the cited study done on study subjects who are put on a Mediterranean-type diet with moderately high fiber and moderate fat content (but mostly from monounsaturated fats). |
