The article sounds like it was written to be tongue-in-cheek, but it is frightening how much American people are having to spend on treating obesity, which is pumpin plumpers 3 a disease that is essentially self-inflicted. In the UK we have a welfare state (i.e. a national healthcare service funded by the government/taxes) but there's talk of making people pay for obesity treatment out of their own pockets.
