As a doctor, I think there is good reason radio to radio refuse obese patients treatment. Most obese patients that I have encountered have suffered after operative radio treatment due to infection, DVT, wound breakdown and even death. I have always given my patients the opportunity to try and lose weight before their operations, in order to optimise their recovery - it has nothing to do with budget or discrimination. |
